Cheap Admission to P/C at Space Camp Canada?

I don’t usually mention Space Camp related auctions on eBay on the front page, but, then again, I’ve never seen someone auctioning off a voucher to attend Parent/Child Space Camp in August in Laval, Quebec!

If you’ve had any desire to go to Space Camp Canada, this is probably as good of a chance as any, and I truly believe that the reserve is low (as the seller claimed).

Interested or not, it’s fun to look at.

Update: At $100.00 Canadian (about $70US), the reserve for this auction has been met! That’s one cheap trip for two to Space Camp!

Update: The auction closed for $113.51 Canadian or approx. $83US! That’s a very cheap trip to camp!

Joel is Gone

It was posted in the HabForum and I thought it was worth noting here that Joel Walsh (see here if you don’t know who I’m talking about) has left Space Camp!

Joel was truly an institution at camp! Virtually every time I went there, there was Joel. Yes, while Space Camp is an ever-changing machine, Joel was one of its constants.

Until now.

Best of luck to him in all of his future endeavors though!

More from Turkey

Nathalie and Tony are back with more from Turkey, which you can check out here. And if you want to see a photo of an SSMT Nathalie mentioned (perhaps even the SSMT mentioned) in her post, here you go:

In other news, Space Camp Turkey has seen 20,000 kids go through its doors since it first opened three years ago. An article on that can be read here.

Nathalie and Tony Land at Space Camp Turkey

Two very dedicated Space Camp Counselors, Nathalie and Tony have taken a voyage to Space Camp Turkey to do what they do best for the summer! Namely, to be awesome counselors for kids both here and now abroad.

These two intrepid voyagers are keeping a journal of their international adventure which you’ll no doubt want to check out!

There are currently two posts with more to come (including photos)!

A New California Camp my yet Arise

The Huntsville Times is reporting about a group of investors ready to give a California Space Camp another go.

Read all about it!

The new camp would be in The Dome on the grounds of the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach. Campers’ dormitories would be aboard the historic ocean liner, which for decades has been an anchored hotel and tourist site.

The Dome – a giant geodesic building – was formerly home to the “Spruce Goose,” Howard Hughes’ wooden seaplane. The plane was moved to a museum in Oregon in 1992.

McNerney said an opening date, like many details about the new camp at this point, is subject to negotiation.

“We’re going to try to open up July 6,” he said.

Hmm…I wonder if they’re looking for a new employee!

Technical Problems with the SpaceCamp DVD

Some users in the HabForum mention that they were having some troubles with their copies of AnchorBay’s now discontinued SpaceCamp DVD.

They are aware of the problems and you can send back the disc to get it replaced if you’d like.

Visit http://www.anchorbayentertainment.com/about/faq.asp#Contact for more information including how and where to send in your defective disc to get a new copy.

Sorry about the Slow-Down

So my web hosting provider was having some major issues yesterday and part of today. If you tried to visit the site or post in the HabForum, chances are you had a heck of a time!

Things should pretty much be back to normal now. At the very least, things are actually loading.

Sorry about that! It shouldn’t happen again, but if it does, I’ll fix it next time (i.e. change providers)!

Thanks for your understanding!
